The Watch Gallery

We were nominated to install a new panoramic 4 Floor lift in a prestigious boutique watch shop in London’s New Bond Street.

The requirement was to install an 8 person passenger lift within a 1300mm x 1700mm space enclosed by  structural steelwork + glazing + staircase within a total space measuring 2.9 metres x 3.2 metres.

Due to the space restrictions we elected to install a hydraulic borehole lift using top of the range Bucher Hydraulics to ensure a very smooth and quiet ride.

A 450mm diameter steel lined borehole for the hydraulic ram was sunk down to 7.5 metres below pavement level and this required 19 m/3 of concrete to form the underpinning to the walls and the lift pit weighing 45.6 tonnes

The glass lift was manufactured to the client’s specific design to match the décor within the rest of the shop while we also provided external stainless steel covers for the top and bottom of the lift car to add to the overall look.

After many months of design work in consultation with the main contractor and the glazing contractor we received drawing approval at the end of February. The lift was delivered 6 weeks later and installed within 3 weeks in time for the shop opening.
