Holland Park - Hydraulic Passenger Lift

We were contacted by the client who had installed a Direct Acting Borehole Hydraulic Passenger lift some 12 years ago in a tight lift shaft. The lift was unreliable, poor quality ride and the basement floor had the smell of oil due to the overheating of the hydraulic system.

We proposed to rip out the old Lift and install a complete New Gearless MRL traction Lift in the existing Shaft. Our proposals included complete Builders and M and E works, protection to existing landings, stairs, stair rails, walls and carpets. We included full CDM site management, all Health and Safety matters and all building control notices including F10.

Our works including shaft structural works, rebuilding walls, entrance surrounds with decorative finishes. The works also included moving electrical supplies from the basement to top floor landings.

A bespoke fit out of the lift car with teak panelling requested by the client, incorporation 4 panel centre opening fully automatic doors, sprayed to match the colour of the existing walls of the landing with a 650mm overall entrance size which fitted the shaft within 5mm tolerances.

As a main building and lift contractor we have found that in many instances the majority of lift companies in the UK will only install a lift after all builders works are completed by another contractor. This makes it very difficult for the client, as they are required to manage as many as three contractors and coordinate the works between all parties when they usually have no experience in these fields.

Many electrical problems with supply and rerouting are all dealt with by us, adjustment of existing shafts or creation of new structural designs, decorative finishes fully.

In summary we were able to offer the client a one stop shop, from glass shafts to any specialist bespoke designs, a true turnkey project with all the disciplines required to minimise the overall project programme and costs with one point of contact for the client.
